I started Gardner I.T. in 2003, when I was 18, working from my bedroom in my parents’ house.
2003 was pre-iPhone, pre-Facebook, pre-broadband.
Back then I helped people set-up new computers, install printers, and get online for the first time.
Now I’m married, have two young children, and a full-time employee. And we now provide fully-managed I.T. support for a range of small businesses including solicitors, accountants, insurance brokers, dental surgeries, veterinary surgeries, funeral directors… and farms.
Several of our clients have multiple locations that we look after. One has six offices, and 30 members of staff.
The reason we’re able to serve so many users across so many businesses, is down to the monitoring and reporting software we use, and the automated scripts we write.
Our Premium Clients have our monitoring software installed on all their computers. If something stops working properly, it alerts us to the fault. We can then log on to that computer remotely, and fix the fault. (Usually before the user even realises anything is wrong).
If it’s a problem that could potentially repeat itself in the future, we’ll write a ‘script’ in the monitoring software.
(A script is a recording of the steps we took to fix the problem. If it occurs again, the monitoring software will detect it, and automatically run the script to fix it).
